The Clock is Ticking to the Dawn of a New Year 2023

Here we are mid way through December. Christmas is only ten days away. A week after that, begins a whole new year. Time to think of the people, the things and the experiences we have left behind over the past twelve months. But are we still cursed from those dark days of COVID? As since then, the world has continued to be going through strange and challenging times. If I remember rightly, the months prior to the pandemic, were generally okay. Yes, there were things going on in the UK and internationally. However, as soon as much of the world was recovering and getting back to some kind of normal, the madness of other events took over the news.

The days of lock-down do now, seem a distant memory. But following on from that time, our minds have been taken over by other unusual and sometimes disturbing news. A shortage of haulage drivers leading to empty shelves in the shops. A war in Europe and the talk of World War III. What seemed an endless change of Prime Minister, Chancellor and the Cabinet. The British economy rocketing out of control. Food prices rising and with utility bills soaring. A football World Cup which highlighted human injustice as well as some memorable matches. Strikes and discontent for workers pay, working conditions and job security.

News from around the world in 2022

There was more. Nationally and internationally. Far too much to mention in this blog. There was also the stories of individuals like you and me. We have our own stories to tell. The loss of loved ones. A new job. The birth of a child. The roof leaking. A redundancy after years of loyal commitment. Taking the dream holiday. The closure of local shops and local resources we relied on. The endless wait for a dentist appointment. Buying that new car. Celebrating a milestone birthday. As people we have so many things in our lives which come along to challenge us, sadden us and fill us with immense joy. Our lives are a roller-coaster of thoughts, feelings and actions. The world around us is forever challenging our physical and mental being. No animal on Earth has such a variety of mental and physical stimulus as we do. Or the utter day-to-day complexity that we face, just being alive.

So, why on earth would we look forward to the New Year 2023? Well, it gives the opportunity to start again. A year that is. The 1st of January can be the first day of a new way of doing things,. It is a chance to re-establish or re-visit things which we have missed or stopped doing. We have a starting point from which to launch new idea, initiatives and adventures. This is the time to consider how we can improve our lives. Whether seeking a new career path, declutter or redecorate the home, breaking an old habit, eating healthier, taking more exercise or doing something we have always dreamt to do. The beginning of a new year is a marker. A time when we look back and dwell on things past. But also a time when we can reboot and look forward to the experiences and adventures of the future.

The journey ahead and planning for the New Year 2023

What will be your destination for New Year 2023? Certainly things will carry on regardless. Some news of the past year will continue. New news will be making the headlines. The ups and downs of life will shed light on a host of events and experiences. These will be both negative and positive. But apart from all those things imposed on us from the world we live in. What about the choices you make? What will they be? The end of this year is soon approaching. The clock is ticking. The time is counting down to the dawn of a New year 2023.

Seeking help in 2023

There may be things which you have experienced over the past twelve months or more, which you would like to discuss. You may have things on your mind about the past or the future, which concern you. There could be a gap in your life from the loss of someone or something dear to you. I recall that old adage ‘It’s good to talk’, and I believe it really is. Making the time to talk through the things on our mind. Taking the opportunity to discuss them and work through them. To be able to view things from a different angle, to gain new insight and a perspective not seen previously.

So, if you would like to do that with the security of knowing whatever you say will be taken seriously, discussed openly and honestly and with total respect. Then maybe it’s time to consider doing that with a professional who can help. And it doesn’t always mean therapy, such as counselling. There are other ways to help you in your quest for change; such as life coaching where you can plan and set goals for a different future. Or maybe some advice with a certain issue, when you’re just wanting help.

Tim Langhorn

I am Tim Langhorn and I offer behavioural and psychological therapy from my consulting room in the City of Bath. The therapy I offer can help people manage their emotions, deal with unnecessary behaviour and alleviate the anxiety which is so prevalent when issues occur. I have been living and working in Bath for over ten years and offer therapy to adults and children alike.

Anxiety is at the heart of many symptoms or conditions faced by people who engage in the therapy I offer in Bath. Hypnotherapy for example, is renowned for the way it helps deal with anxiety and is a therapy which enables you to reinforce your inner resources and reintroduce an alternative way to respond.

Since 1982 I have been offering therapy to children and adults in a variety of settings and of varying ages. This experience has enabled me to fine tune the therapy I now offer you at my practice in Bath.

Anxiety may be one which interferers with everyday life or social gatherings. It may be that your anxiety has led you to create a habit you now wish to stop. Unresolved emotions can cause stress and anxiety which in turn can lead to an ever deepening depressive state of mind. The therapy I offer can help people understand their anxiety and learn to find new ways to overcome the unnecessary anxiety they feel.
